Adolescent Outpatient Services
The goals of outpatient treatment are to provide quality, evidence-based alcohol and drug outpatient services for persons who have demonstrated a need for outpatient care and recovery to improve the clients ability to function, and minimize the medical and social complications of addiction. Like people with diabetes or heart disease, people in treatment for drug and alcohol addiction will also need to change their behavior to adopt a more healthful lifestyle.
IVRS has developed a successful outpatient program for adolescents that addresses the needs of substance abuse recovery, and integrates improvements in health, social and vocational aspects of life. IVRS utilizes evidence-based, cognitive restructuring curriculum to educate youth on the disease concept of addiction and related thinking and behaviors. Relapse prevention is a key element in successful, long-term recovery. IVRS introduces clients to the young people’s 12-step programs of Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), and Narcotics Anonymous (NA), to assist them in establishing a firm foundation for long term recovery. In addition, IVRS provides assessment, one-on-one counseling sessions, group therapy, life skills and aftercare groups. IVRS believes it is important to educate and involve the family in the treatment process, therefore providing family counseling and support for family members and significant others of the participant. In addition IVRS provides individualized counseling and referral services for participants suffering from co-occurring disorder(s) (i.e. substance abuse issues coupled with underlying mental health issues). IVRS utilizes evidence-based Matrix Model for Teens curriculum for the education and life skills components of the program. Each client receives individualized treatment including personal recovery/treatment planning, educational sessions, crisis intervention, social/recreational activities, individual and group sessions and case management. Services are provided at IVRS’ San Bernardino Outpatient Recovery Center in the City of San Bernardino.
